Bringing hot runway fashion trends into your home … with flowers
It’s been a year since I have sat front row at a fashion show, and for someone who lives and breathes fashion, that is a long time. So, I was pretty excited in March to be heading back down to Melbourne for the 2021 Melbourne Fashion Festival to watch the autumn/winter 2021 collections.
Even after 25 years in the fashion industry I never get tired of watching beautiful clothes sashay down a catwalk. I love being a part of the whole experience. The people watching, the music, the dramatic lighting, the beautiful models, heavenly hair and makeup and of course the clothes.
It’s all about discovering the new … and shopping for my own personal wardrobe! Fashion infiltrates and influences so many other industries which brings me back to the floral collection I created for Roses Only and how it was strongly influenced by my love of fashion and colour combinations.
With that in mind, I thought I’d select a few favourite looks from the Melbourne Fashion Festival runway and show you how I’d take that trend and execute it visually in my home with flowers. And maybe even buy yourself that outfit!
White is always on trend and I love the simplicity and elegance of these pieces by Joslin Studio. Be inspired by WishList White.
I have long been a fan of Romance Was Born and their artistic approach to design. Colour is always key, and more often than not they are inspired by Australian flora and fauna, and this new collection just popped on the runway with those gorgeous floral prints. Be inspired by Pop Art.
A little black dress and a statement dress in red … every woman needs both. Steven Khalil is an incredible couture designer which is why he is Australia’s go-to red carpet and wedding dress designer. Be inspired by Bold Blooms.
I couldn’t take my eyes off this piece of pink heaven when it hit the runway. Designed by Acler this dress will no doubt be a massive hit. I mean … pink and pleats. Sigh. Be inspired by Precious Posy and Pink Perfection.
One thing I love about autumn is embracing the rich colours of the season , like purple, burgundy, greens and deep reds. The dark green and burgundy Camilla and Marc have launched this season is gorgeous and sophisticated and will lift a winter wardrobe immediately. Be inspired by Radiant Orchids.
